Real Christmas Trees and Poinsettias are THE Environmentally Friendly Choice

When you choose a fresh Christmas tree or real poinsettia, the environment reaps the benefits. Real trees are renewable and recyclable, while artificial trees and plants contain non-biodegradable plastics and possible metal toxins, including lead.

The mere presence of plants has been demonstrated to lessen environmental pollution by removing toxic chemicals from the air, while natural Christmas trees help filter dust and smog from the air as well as help stop soil erosion. In fact, every acre of Christmas trees on a farm creates enough oxygen for 18 people!

For every real Christmas tree harvested, up to three seedlings are planted in its place the following spring. And real Christmas trees provide a comfortable habitat for a wide variety of wildlife.

After the holidays, Christmas trees can be recycled and used for a wide variety of purposes including bird feeders or shelters, fuel chips and mulch. Consumers with a green thumb can keep their poinsettia plant thriving year 'round. Or, for those of us who are "horticulturally challenged," we can feel comfortable knowing that poinsettias can be easily composted and will decompose naturally!
